1st Time Pass & Move
1st Time Pass & Move is the perfect drill to teach your players how to escape from tight situations or to cut through defences.
It will take a while to perfect and its going to work on so many skills at the same time.
Players need to be on their toes and ready, just in case the pass isn’t perfect. They need to be able to play the pass with either foot.
Making sure the pass is played into the correct position and has the right weight on it. Adjusting body shape to set themselves up for the next pass
1st Time Pass & Move – How it Works
Place 2 cones about 20 yards apart. 2 Players start at one end, 1 Players starts at the opposite end. The 4th player ( or Coach ) holds a static position in the middle about 10 yards to the left.
Yellow players starts with the ball. They play a first time pass to the Red (Static) player.
Red player returns the pass into the path of the moving Yellow player.
Yellow player meets the ball and passes first time to Blue Player. Blue Player returns the pass straight back into Yellow Players path.
Blue player then moves round the back of the cone and Yellow player passes to their feet.
Blue player then repeats the action but in reverse.
This then repeats multiple times so all players get used to playing the first time passes in both directions ( left and right passes )
This will work both feet, test concentration, movement and awareness.
1st Time Pass & Move – Coaching Points
Be patient with them at first, passes will go astray that will interrupt the flow.
Encourage them to be on their toes at all times so they are ready.
Make sure their eyes are on the ball as they pass to be as accurate as possible.
Repeat this one a lot and you will see a huge improvement in not just their passing, but their balance
