Warm Up Drill – Crossing & Shooting
This Warm Up Drill – Crossing & Shooting is really good in either training or pre match
Its another fast paced one, that is continually rolling from one side of the pitch to the other.
This gives the players the opportunity to play the pass and to finish from both angles, and with both feet if you so wish.
Reading the pass and body shape coming round the cone are important.
This will get them thinking and concentrating on the pass as soon as it its played.
Warm Up Drill – Crossing & Shooting – How it Works
Split the players into 2 teams.
Yellow player 1 runs first, rounding the cone, as they do, they call for the cross from Blue Player 1.
When the cross comes in they finish first time.
Yellow Player 1 then joins the back of the Blue Queue.
Blue Player 1 then runs around the cone and calls for the cross from Yellow player 2.
This then continues until all players have had at least 2 shots from either side.
What they will Learn
The importance of making a good pass, and how that can make a finish easier.
Body shape, by opening their bodies up as they round the cone before the cross comes in the finish will be easier, whichever foot they take it on.
Practising finishing with their weaker foot
