Working in Triangles 2 – Creating the Angles
Following on from “Working in Triangles – Switching Out” which is working in Static Triangles and moving between them. This drill changes the tact and is split into 2 parts.
This one is about creating fluid triangles, so every time a pass is played another triangle is available due to player movement.
Working in Triangles 2 – Creating the Angles – How it Works
Part 1:
Mark out a grid with flat circles. 4 x 5 – 5 yards apart.
Place 3 players inside the grid, any positions will do as long as a triangle is formed.
Player 1 starts with the ball and plays a pass to Player 2 or 3.
As soon as the pass is played, Player 1 and the player NOT receiving the ball both move to another space in the grid, again forming a triangle.
As the players move from one location to the other, they should be facing the ball ready to receive the next pass.
This continues until a mistake is made or they play themselves out of the grid.
Part 2:
Part 2 makes the whole process a lot more difficult by bringing a defender into play.
Using the same movements players must navigate around the grid avoiding the defender as they go.
Count the number of successful passes for each team. Rotate the defender every time they win the ball.
Team with the highest number of passes at the end, Wins !
